In loving memory of Kevin Bede Brown
December 31, 2024
Ottawa, Canada
On December 31, 2024, a gentle heart and a brilliant mind departed from our world after a courageous battle with cancer. Kevin Brown, a dedicated public servant who possessed a unique talent for foreign languages and a passion for serving his country, passed away peacefully at the age of 64.
Kevin has embarked on his final and undoubtedly most profound philosophical journey, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, wit, and a deep love for life. We suspect he's already arguing the finer points of skepticism with the ancients.
Known for his compassion and his generosity, Kevin always lent a helping hand to those in need. His sharp intellect combined with his exceptional ability for logic and reasoning made him a captivating storyteller and a source of endless insight, knowledge, and laughter. He profoundly appreciated the natural world, finding solace in the beauty of the outdoors and the rustling leaves of a forest. A voracious reader, he found joy within the pages of books. A person of culture, he found great enjoyment in a wide range of excellent music and film. Above all else, Kevin was a remarkable father, grandfather, brother, partner, and friend who will be fondly remembered by so many.
He is survived by his beloved children, Nick Drescher Brown (Kate Drescher Brown) and Hilary Drescher Brown (Nick McBride), and his cherished grandchildren, who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. Kevin will be deeply missed by his loving partner, Carol Ritchie.
Though he may be gone, the echoes of his laughter, the warmth of his kindness, and the brilliance of his mind will forever resonate in our hearts. All whose lives he touched were better and richer for it.
A celebration of life is being held on Saturday February 22 2025 from 11:00 - 3:00pm at the NDHQ Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess (4 QUEEN ELIZABETH DRIVE, OTTAWA, ON). Smart casual attire (t-shirts or ripped jeans prohibited). Light lunch will be served and a cash bar available.
