Kiki (Karen) Ruth Hannako Misumi
Born May 2, 1960, passed away at home on Sunday August 26, 2018 at the age of 58. After bravely and nobly fighting cancer for over 12 years, Kiki passed away from Leiomyosarcoma.
Kiki was a gifted jazz cellist, pianist singer, composer and spiritual leader who gave so much joy, compassion, help and guidance to her family, friends, colleagues and community.
Kiki is survived by her loving husband, jazz guitarist Reg Schwager. Kiki was the cherished daughter of Naomi Rae Misumi, beloved sister of Gregory Misumi and Tia Downer (nee Misumi). Loving Aunt to Sasha and Charles Downer, brother-in-law, Jeff Downer, and in-law to Aunt Ina Finlay and Hilda Downer, Gary Downer and David Downer. She is also survived by Uncle Dr. Sam Misumi and Kiki’s loving cousins, Auntie Ruth Oda, father-in-law Walter Schwager, sister-in-law, Jeanette Schwager. Preceded in death by father Dr. David Y. Misumi, Granny Sue Kutsukake, Uncle Jerry Kutsukake, Mother-in-law Agatha Schwager.
A celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at SGI Canada, 2050 Dufferin Street, Toronto, Ontario on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at 1:00pm.
