Kim Conners

December 4, 1957 — January 19, 2017

CONNERS, Kim (Born December 4, 1957).
After an incredible life journey inspired by love for his boys, Kim has left this life and ALS behind. He passed away peacefully on January 19, 2017, with family and close friends by his side at West Park Healthcare Centre.
Although Kim lived with ALS for 22 years, he touched and inspired the lives of many, but most of all the lives of Darren and Adam. Always attending their many activities, from hockey to snowboarding, he rarely missed an event. Kim never lost his passion for food and cooking, and even though he could no longer eat the meals, he enjoyed selecting and overseeing the recipes lovingly prepared by his caregivers. The family table was surrounded and celebrated by love and friendship and always included many family and friends. Those who were graced by his presence knew that somehow they were a piece of his life’s tapestry, and he was a piece of theirs. Kim was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Findlay), parents Harold and Olga (Michalzuk), brothers Ronald, Wayne, Eric and sister-in-law Laura. Loving father of Darren (Erie) and Adam and girlfriend Ruth, dear brother to Robert, Carol Pankratz (Abe), Susan Strongman (Charles), Tami Lapointe (Donald) and Tracy Conners. Dearly remembered by sister-in-law Heather Conners and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kim will be lovingly missed by his best friend and advocate Paula Wineck, Joanne Foskett and his dedicated health care team, past and present, especially his wingmen John, Don, Jed, Harry and Vard.
It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a community to help someone living with ALS. Too numerous to name, thank you if you were one of those angels. Many thanks to the ALS Society, Sunnybrook Hospital, West Park Healthcare Centre and Direct Funding (CILT) for supporting Kim for so many years. The course of Kim’s life and his eternity changed in the summer of 2012, when he made the decision to accept Christ’s offer of eternal life and follow Him. ” ‘Cause I’m as free as a bird now and this bird you cannot change” – Lynyrd Skynyrd.
