Lai Wah (Woo) Der reached the end of her wonderful life on January 19, 2022, at the age of 89.
Born in the county of Kaiping (Hoiping) in China on May 19, 1932 to parents Quong Wing Woo and Chai Yeung Seto. Lived in Hong Kong briefly before getting married in Vancouver and settling in Montreal. Her very first job was that of housewife and homemaker. After having kids and they were old enough to take care of themselves she got a job as a seamstress working in the garment factories. She also briefly worked in the restaurant industry. She would spend her free time cooking for the kids especially trying out new recipes that friends have given to her. Her weekends were also spent playing mahjong or knitting items of clothing for the kids. After retiring she would often go to the local casino with her husband or one of the children.
Lai Wah was predeceased by her husband, Tan Chow Der. She is survived by her seven children: Henry Der, of Toronto; Bow Lan Mah, and her husband Don, of Edmonton; Bow Yuk Der, of Oshawa; Bo King Der, of Montreal; Harley Der, and his wife Anna Ruiz, of Montreal; Kelly Der, of Ottawa; and Sandra Der, of Ottawa. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Kayla, Andrew, Alexandra, Gregory, Ethan, Eliah, Elias, Enoch, Adam, and David.
She will be dearly missed and always remembered.
