Lamia Haddad

February 12, 1929 — March 31, 2021

Lamia Kathryn Haddad (nee Mazbar) took her transition from this earth on March 31, 2021 at the age of 92. She was escorted by her guardian angels into the loving arms of her Creator and the many loved ones who had transitioned before her, including her beloved husband, John Adel Haddad, her mother and sisters.

A remarkable woman of many talents, she overcame adversity of war in the capture of Palestine in 1948. She lived in the Middle East for 7 years following the family's migration and in 1955, immigrated to Canada, together with her husband and two children (Hala and Norma), in her eighth month of pregnancy. She birthed her third child (Susan) shortly after arrival and set forth to create a life for herself and her family. On this journey, she birthed three more children (Joanne, Roger and Lynn). She honed her creative and home making skills, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint. She became the family's master chef to dress and nurture her family and decorate her home. At the same time, she created a career as a Public Servant and served her faith as a founding member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In addition, she gave her love and support to her extended family and often welcomed them into her home. Her deep-seeded faith, love and generosity was bestowed on all who entered there. She will be forever and lovingly be remembered by her children, all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews to carry on the family traditions.

She always presented herself with charm and dignity and dealt with the ups and downs of life with courage and resolve. All who knew her will miss her presence. We, her children, are grateful for having her in our lives and know that peace and love will be hers forever.

To our extended family and friends, please be advised that, given the COVID-19 pandemic and local rules, the funeral will be private and limited to her immediate family. In the future, we will celebrate her life together at the 40-day mass to be held in her church. We will advise you of this event as soon as possible.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, kindly send a donation to The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, 1750 Russell Road, Ottawa, ON K1G 5Z6 or a local charity of your choice in her name.

God bless you all.

Allah yerhama.
