SCHMIDT, Laura Josephine (nee Turnquist) passed away peacefully at Willoughby Manor in Niagara Falls, Ontario in her 93rd year on June 22, 2017.
Born September 7, 1924 in Warmon, Saskatchewan, Laura always considered herself a "prairie chicken".
Predeceased by her husband Herman (1998), and son Philip (1985).
Survived by son Herbert (Shirley) in Vineland and son Nelson (Kate) in Mesachie Lake, B.C. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren.
Favourite great grammy to Ethan & Austin Silvan, Jamie, Emma & Keira Schmidt.
For many years, she was Laundry Forelady at the Niagara Sanatorium in St. Catharines.
Very much loved by all... family, friends and neighbours. Left to cherish her memory are extended family in the west. Survived by brother Alton Turnquist of Victoria, BC, sisters-in-law Helena Turnquist, Anna Bergen and Ruth.
At Laura's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service.
