Leda Marie MCALISTER (nee Rostocky) – Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at home in Bayfield, Ontario on April 14, 2017. Born near Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 8th 1929, Leda McAlister was in her 88th year. Predeceased by her parents, Dan and Katherine Rostocky (nee Wachna), sister Alma Rostocky, brother Donald Rostocky, ex-husband Robert Lewis (2013) and former husband Alec McAlister (1987). Survived by her loving husband Ross Lehman. Also survived by her sister Winona (Don, deceased), sisters Adelle (Jose) and Cathy. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family including her three sons, Ted Rosenthallewis (Katie), David Lewis (Kathy) and Greg Lewis (Rachel). Equally missed by her step-sons with Alec; Steve (Joan), Dan (Fran), Andrew (Bente), Kenneth and Mark (Debbie). And by her step children with Ross; Peter, Steve (Elizabeth), Michael (Linda) and Anne. Leda (Baba) will be especially greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Leda grew up near Winnipeg, MB in a strong Ukrainian family and community. She married Bob (Robert) Lewis in Winnipeg; they later moved to Ontario and started a family. She met and married Alec McAlister in the 1970's. Leda met Ross Lehman and they married in Sept. 2007. At 75 years young, they were the first couple married at Goderich by a marriage commissioner for the town. Leda and Ross loved gardening, reading and meeting with their meditation group. Leda was a talented artist; she was an accomplished painter and sculptor. Her garden at Bayfield is a testament to her love of beauty. Her art was what she loved to work at all her life. Leda's gift was to make each of us feel special and loved. She will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 from 2: 00 pm to 4:00 pm in her garden, at their home near Bayfield; 77075 Hwy #21.
