Lee Louise (nee Goodhue) Gilbert

November 28, 1911 — January 7, 2016

On January 7, 2016, in her 105th year, with her daughter by her side, our extraordinary and much loved Mum/Nannie left us to rejoin her beloved Joe after 51 years.  As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and details will follow for a celebration of her life to be arranged at a later date at her church, Maple Grove United, in Oakville.

Lee was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Nelson & Emily (Sheldon) Goodhue.  Pre-deceased by her loving husband, Joe (1964); daughter-in-law and unborn grandchild, Helen Ann Fougere (1964); her three sons, Karl (2009), Brian (2014) and Terry (2015); her dear sister, Gladys, and brother, Arthur.

Survived by her only daughter, Jo Anne, and son-in-law, John Harding; daughters-in-law Helen, Anne and Ellen;
9 grandchildren:  Kimberly (Glenn) Goode, Debi (Max) Gagnon, Sean (Stacey) Harding, Christie Whyte Gilbert, Shari MacLeod Gilbert, Shelagh (Ken) Keesmaat, Linda (Chris) Cummins, Laura (Brad) Gilbert, and Christian Gilbert.
13 great-grandchildren: Robert Judd, Amber and Brittany Whyte, Jake Goode, Daniel and Devon MacLeod, Madeline and Grace Cummins, Emma and Abby Keesmaat, Aidan, Kieran and Lauren Harding, and along with Laura and Brad joyfully anticipating  the arrival of her 14th in May.
2 great-great grandchildren; Karah and Lincoln MacLeod.

Lee was devoted to her family.  She loved us all equally and unconditionally and encouraged us to grow, spread our wings and fly but was always there to catch us when we faltered.

Mum spent her final days at Hospice Wellington in Guelph where she and her family were treated with compassionate care and dignity.  We will be forever grateful to the staff and volunteers for their tender loving care of this amazing lady.

We will miss your presence in our lives in so many ways Nannie.  May you rest in peace, finally reunited with your beloved Joe, your three boys and all your dear friends and family who preceded you.  We sincerely hope that you have been granted your wish that your new task will be in the garden.

Remember her with joy, and if you wish, honour her life with a donation in her memory to Hospice Wellington(www.hospicewellington.org), or with a simple act of kindness.    Place Of Birth: Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada College: Frank Dudley’s Pitman’s Shorthand and Business Class (1929-30) Place Of Work: Donald E Skinner, Architect Spouse: Major Joseph Henry Gilbert (Joe) Wedding Date: 1936-09-08 Children: Brian, Karl, Terry & Jo Anne Interests/Hobbies: Her Family, Music (piano & church choirs), Numerous Choral Societies & Amateur Theatre, Gardening, Writing poetry and short stories, Baking
