On Tuesday morning 3-June 2014, LEE COVERT TESKE passed away peacefully in Victoria Hospital in London, ON after a brief battle with recently diagnosed brain cancer while recovering from bladder cancer surgery. He was 60 years old. He is survived by his only son Wesley Teske, (Toronto, ON) and the mother he looked after, Elvira (Vera) Pokrant Teske, (Powassan, ON.) He was preceded in death by his wife and Wesley's mother, Deborah Hall Teske and father Covert (Bert) Teske. Hundreds of colleagues, family members, friends and even strangers to him are saddened by Lee's passing, but find comfort in remembering his outgoing personality, his loyalty and his ability to embrace the short life he lived.
The Mayor, town council, administrator and community of Whitestone has graciously declared that this year's annual fireworks display at dusk on Saturday 28-June will be dedicated in his honour and you're welcome to join the community, family and friends in gathering for this year's festival in Dunchurch.
Prior to the Canada Day Festival commemoration, over 150 attended a Memorial Service was held:
THURSDAY 19-JUNE at 3:00pm
Royal Canadian Legion Hall #453
62 KING ST. POWASSAN, ON
Family, friends, colleagues and all those in attendance celebrated the life of Lee and wore the colour purple at Wes’ request as a strong and visual tribute featuring his father's favourite colour. Memories, prayers, music and stories were shared followed by light refreshments and time to mingle with the many people whose lives have been touched by Lee. You are also welcome and encouraged to leave a memory and/or photos here on this website if you feel inclined as many did in his memory journal.
The family also wishes to extend their sincere and deep gratitude to the medical and support staff at London Health Science Centre's Victoria Hospital for the care and compassion they gave not only to Lee in his final weeks, but also to his family during this difficult time.
If you’d care to make a charitable donation in Lee’s rememberance, the family suggests supporting the food bank organization in your community or the Adventist Development and Relief Agency Canada in Lee Teske’s name. More information can be obtained at www.adra.ca or by calling 1-888-274-2372.
