After a six and a half week stay at the Ottawa Heart Institute, with a layover at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata, Leo, in his 89th year, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2019.
Loving husband of nearly sixty-seven years to Muriel (Brooks) Gregory; beloved father of Carol Ann, Robert (Nicole), and Steven; proud grandfather of Danielle (Brendan), Karen (Joe), Justin (Lauren), Erin (Mitesh), Brandon, and Catharine (Wesley); step-grandfather to Steven and Kevin Perras; great-grandfather of Keara, Nalin, Logan, Jacob, Liam, Mia, and Ryan; brother of Walter (Rose); uncle to many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law to Diane and Lorraine.
Leo is predeceased by his brother, Douglas; brother-in-law George; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (John), Alice, Lillian (Alderic), and Theresa (John).
Son of the late Samuel and Augustine (Bazinet), Leo was born in Montreal on June 14, 1930. He was honourably discharged from the Royal Canadian Air Force, followed by a dedicated thirty-four-year career with IBM Canada Ltd. (Montreal/Toronto). He was also parishioner and Minister of the Liturgy of Holy Spirit Parish in Stittsville, Ontario.
Leo always placed family first. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, sports, golf, and was a great do-it-yourselfer. He liked a good laugh and sure loved to eat. He could connect with everyone he met in a special way.
The family invites you to join them in a celebration of Leo's life at Holy Spirit Catholic Church: 1489 Shea Rd, Ottawa, ON K2S 0G8, on Saturday, March 23, 2019. A visitation will be held at 12:00PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:30PM. A private interment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute and the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, and Dr. P. Bright. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Leo’s name to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice or the Ottawa Heart Institute.
