Lester Llewelyn Nurse

Peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Lester, loving father to Elizabeth (David) and Steven (Bailey). Predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Anne, his parents William and Leonora, his brother Frank, his sisters Barbara, Wilma, Christina and Eileen, and his niece Gemlyn.  Uncle to Ainsley, Beverley and Louella.  Much loved Grandpa of Chloe, Clara, Zeppelin and Monroe. Brother-in-law to Bette Greenwood and Pauline Nurse.  He will be missed by extended family and friends in Canada, the U.S. and Trinidad & Tobago.

Lester was born on December 17, 1939 in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago where he attended St. Mary's College.  He came to Canada to attend university in September 1959.  He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Winnipeg, where he also met his wife, Anne. After graduating they married on September 19, 1964.  He and Anne lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Sudbury, Ontario before moving to Scarborough, Ontario in 1969.  In Scarborough they raised their two children and resided there for 50 years before moving to Oakville, Ontario.

Lester was an avid fan of hockey, baseball, curling, football, golf and horse racing and kept detailed stats on the sports he followed.  He enjoyed taking driving trips around Ontario with Anne, especially to see the fall colours.  He loved his grandchildren and treasured  gatherings with family.

The family is grateful for the care he received at the West Oak Village Long Term Care Centre and by the palliative care team at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

A private memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 2 to 4 pm. Please contact a family member for further information.
