Linda Lees Azzopardi

December 23, 1943 - December 9,2022

Born December 23, 1943, Linda Lees Azzopardi fell in love with every single thing she took a swing at; travelling around the world, painting, craftwork, volleyball, sewing, home and cottage design, and dancing in ways that no human has ever danced before.  She was most passionate about her children and grandchildren, chocolate milkshakes, reading, the Olympics, kooky hats, Canadian history, chunky jewelry, and the colour taupe.  She was a fountain of optimism and naiveté, who had no time for front hedges, cooking or housekeeping, and she never, ever got dirty jokes.

Linda lived for everyone but herself.  This included her parents, John and Janet Thatcher, her husband and best friend, David, her children Jason and Tara, her grandchildren, Ellis, Cleo and Leif, her sister, Gail, and brother, Jack, the entire Maltese clan she married into and, of course, the countless people she helped in over four decades of service as a professional healthcare worker, and in her many battles for the preservation of the IV Team at Sick Kids and Mount Sinai.

She finished her career as a IV Nurse at Scarborough General/Grace at the age of 67 to care for her ailing David.

The world could use more people like her.

She was an odd duck, but we loved her for it.

Linda passed on December 9, 2022.

She was cremated on December 14, the same day her beloved David left us ten years earlier.

The interment of Linda’s ashes will be held on January 13, 2023, at a private ceremony in Riverside Cemetery, (1567 Royal York Rd, Toronto, ON M9P 3C4), followed by a celebration of life with her close family and friends.
