Lloyd passed away in Ottawa at home on March the 23rd, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Oxford, Nova Scotia to Leona Mattinson on July 8, 1948. He spent his youth in Oxford and moved to Ottawa at age 14, where he lived with his sister and brother-in-law.
As a young man he was in the military for 3 years. He had numerous other jobs until he was hired by the OCDSB, where he worked his way up to a chief custodian and retired from this position in 2013.
Lloyd was a devoted father, who would do anything for his girls, Jessica and Rebecca. He coached them in softball and bowling, he took them fishing, and he taught them new things every day. He devoted all his spare time to his grandchildren Joshua, Hannah, Skylar and Ayden. They will have many memories of their fishing trips, camping, swimming, and many conversations with their grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Linda, daughters Jessica and Rebecca, his grandchildren Joshua, Hannah, Skylar and Ayden, sister Marie and brother Garnet. He is survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers Leon and Marvin.
He loved his darts and bowling and made many friends in these sports.
We would like to thank the Care-for and Bayshore teams who cared for Lloyd through this difficult time and made it possible for him to stay at home.
