Lorraine Marjorie Fagan (née Patenaude)

July 22, 1939 — April 13, 2025

Lorraine Marjorie Fagan (nee Patenaude) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at the Ruddy-Shenkman hospice on April 13, 2025, at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her partner Robert (Bob) Brophy, her parents Marjorie (Edwards) and Lawrence Patenaude and her sister Diane Brisbois.

She was a loving and supportive mother to her children, Brenda Taylor-Kluke (Lionel) and William Taylor (Sheila) and grandmother to Sean Martin (Agata), Bryan Martin (Shannon), Riley Taylor (Erin) and Grace Taylor (James). She was so proud to be called GeeGee by Samantha, Charlotte, Olivia, and Benjamin.

Lorraine was a friendly and kind person and touched the lives of many with her generosity. She loved being a stay-at-home mom and when her children were teenagers, she fulfilled her desire to be a nurse, graduating from the Civic Hospital school of nursing as an RNA. She worked at the Civic for 20 years, and then in retirement, she continued as the primary caregiver for her elderly father.

She was always very social and enjoyed entertaining. She participated on the social committee for her condo board, volunteered as a neighbourhood watch captain and enjoyed evenings chatting with her neighbours. The squirrels especially enjoyed her evening strolls with her beloved dog Willy, as she always had a pocket of shelled peanuts for them. She was always up for a game of BINGO or cards! She was a creative soul and loved art, sewing, and knitting. Each of her family members has enjoyed something that she has created.

The family would like to thank the community and caregivers at The Empress for filling her final years with friendship and kindness. Thank you to Dr. Tara Jennings and the care team at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice for the compassionate care given to Lorraine.

Per her wishes, following cremation, Lorraine will be interred at Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank Street, Ottawa in a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice Care Ottawa (hospicecareottawa.ca) or Dense Breasts Canada (www.densebreastscanada.ca)
