It is with great sadness that the family of Louis Thomas Raddall Charron announce his passing at St. Vincent hospital in Ottawa on Monday, July 8, 2024.
Lou was born in Moncton N.B. on February 21, 1931, but was raised in Saint John, N.B., where he attended both Holy Trinity and St. Vincent’s schools.
Lou is survived by his wife Mary (nee Sullivan) of 66 years, his sister Rosemary, and children Mary Poulin (Mario), Chris (Debby) and Marc (Chiara); he was known as Poppa to grandchildren Corey, Ryan, Kayla, Megan, Connor and Tommy; and Great Poppa to April, Roman and Brooks Louis. He was predeceased by his father Louis, mother Winnifred (nee Raddall), and daughter Lisa.
Lou was a voracious reader and spoke four languages. He spent his career in the Canadian Military, Signals Intelligence Branch, and was posted to both the US and Germany. He later served with CBSA until retirement. Lou spent his retirement winters in Florida with his wife Mary and spent his summers on the golf course. He loved his golf and played until age 91.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, July 18 at 1pm at Divine Infant Church in Orleans. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
