Lucienne Menard

April 20, 1927 — April 11, 2016

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Lucienne Marie Jane Parenteau Menard, wife of the late Charles Edward Menard, on Monday, April 11th, 2016, one week shy of her 89th birthday. She was the beloved mother of Louise (Denis) Ladouceur, Denis, Diane (Denis) Lachance and Peter (Patricia). She held a special place in the hearts of her 7 grandchildren, Lisa and Michel (Renee); Matthew; Andre, Philippe and Marc; and Samantha (Mike) Vaness, as well as her 7 great-grandchildren Trianna, Victoria, Angie, William, Joshua, Arial and Ayva. She will also be missed by her daughter-in-law Jane as well as her brother Jean-Louis (Lise) and several nieces and nephews. Our mother was born April 20th, 1927 in Lac la Tortue, Quebec to Leon and Alia Parenteau and raised in Masson, Quebec. She resided in Kemptville, Ontario for close to 25 years and was well liked for her elegance, generosity and friendly smiles. She enjoyed the 3 B's - bridge, bingo and bowling but mostly she enjoyed music and dancing. She had the voice of an angel when she sang in Church and oh, how she loved to dance! She enjoyed an envied life with travel, good friends and close family connections. In later years she moved to Ottawa and then, after the passing of our father, on to Embrun where she lived out her final years near her daughter Louise who was also her best friend.
As per her request, there will not be any visitation. However, for those who wish to attend, a small intimate service will be held at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 17 First Avenue, Russell, Ontario, Saturday, April 23rd, 11 a.m.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Gerry Heyman, the staff and fellow residents at The Pavillion Senior's Residence in Embrun and the nurses and staff at the Winchester General Hospital. Their genuine care and concern for our mother's well-being helped her and us get through the toughest times.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
