Lucienne Sorensen

With profound sadness, we announce the death of Lucy Sorensen on February 9th, 2019. Lucy stoically fought cancer for the last year, never losing her sense of humour or compassion for others. She did enjoy a period of recovery during which time she was able to travel Canada, spend time with family, and reconnect with old friends. Cancer is not fair and ultimately progressed faster than medicine could treat. Lucy is predeceased by her parents Mario and Teresa Vettorel. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Sorensen, brothers Alberto (Sherry) and Michael (Dominique) Vettorel, daughters Anna Dumoulin (John Whitbread) and Angela Dumoulin (Alex Zagorevski). Nephews Adam Vettorel (Allison) and Matthew Vettorel brightened her days with their sharp wit. Her extended family members were as much like sons and daughters to her as her own, most notably Paul Sorensen (Selen). Loving Nonna to Isabella and Natasha, Jovi and Arlo, She was so thrilled to have grand-children! Lucy was the heart and soul of our family. Her love of art, nature, and photography has enriched all of our lives. She never asked anything for herself but always made herself available to everyone. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Cross Church 685 Walkley Road Ottawa on Friday at 10:00am. In lieu of flower donation to Canada Lung Cancer or to the Hospice care Ottawa
