Madeleine Aurise Byck

July 30, 1945 — December 21, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Madeleine Aurise Byck (nee Poisson) on December 21, 2016 at Victoria hospital in London, Ontario at the age of 71 years.
Madeleine was predeceased by her parents Edith and Ovide Poisson of Timmins and brothers Ron and Guy but survived by her sisters, Denise, Jeannine, and Louise and brothers Paul and Jean-Marc.
She will be sadly missed and remembered by her husband Theodore (Ted) Byck, her son Michael Byck (Nicky O'Brien) of Dunedin, New Zealand and grandchildren Breane and Cody; her daughter Christina Sims (Adam) of London ON., grandchildren Caden and Alexandra and daughter Andrea Byck of New Liskeard ON and grandchildren Brittany, Samantha and Raina, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Madeleine was born in Timmins on July 30, 1945 and raised there. She married Ted on August 15, 1964. After living in various places while going to school Madeleine and Ted moved to Haileybury in 1975. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Grace Hospital in Windsor, Ontario and over the years nursed in Windsor, Timmins, Cochrane and Haileybury. She then signed on with the Temiskaming Health Unit from which she retired after 25 years of dedicated service to the citizens of the Temiskaming area. In 2004 Madeleine also graduated from Laurentian University in Sudbury with a BA. On October 1, 2016 she moved with Ted to London, Ontario, planning to split time between London and Haileybury.
Madeleine was fortunate enough to have travelled extensively throughout all of North America, New Zealand, much of Europe, much of the Caribbean and some of Central and South America.
A special thanks to the doctors and staff at Temiskaming Hospital and London's Victoria Hospital for their outstanding compassionate care and concern during her tests and treatment.
In accordance with Madeleine's wishes she has been cremated ( she hated being cold ) and there will not be a funeral or other service. Please remember Madeleine as you may have last seen her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Haileybury Food Bank in Madeleine's memory would be greatly appreciated. Haileybury Food Bank Box 1651 Haileybury, ON P0J 1K0
