In Loving Memory: Remembering Marcia
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a remarkable woman, Marcia Patricia Johnson (nee Sybliss), who departed this world on August 31 2023 in Toronto ON. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.
Marcia was born on February 25, 1954, in Hectors River (Portland), Jamaica. She was the beloved wife of Amos Johnson, and is survived by her mother Gladys, her brother Delroy, her children Keisha, Dwayne, Tabitha, and Marvin, her grandchildren Malaika, Jalen, Isis, Jacob and Tyson. She faced the challenges of single parenthood with grace and determination. She dedicated herself to her children, providing whatever they needed, not only material support and care, but also boundless love, guidance, and encouragement. Marcia was a passionate Entrepreneur who loved to travel and experience the world, especially traveling through the United States.
Marcia was beautiful, loved music, dancing, cooking, and took care to look her best. She passed that beauty, inner strength, sense of fun and ability to cook on to her children. She taught through example that no matter what life challenges us with, carry on with style, grace, and love. Marcia was a woman of incredible perseverance, intelligence, strength, and resilience. She was a creative businesswoman. She was protective of her family and friends.
In addition to her role as a mother, Marcia was a beloved friend and confidante. Her wisdom and gentle guidance inspired countless individuals to reach their full potential and live meaningful lives. Thank you to the staff of the Hawthorne Place Care Center for her exceptional care at the end of her battle with Dementia.
Funeral services to be held at St John's Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium on September 23, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Marcia’s name to the Alzheimer's Foundation or a charity of your choice.
