Our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret Gardner of Burlington, Ontario, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday October 29, 2022 at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital after a brief illness.
Margaret Patricia Gardner was Born on February 18, 1933 in Montreal to Albina Marie and Leonard Sheldon Bartlett. Margaret was the older sister to Graeme Bartlett and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario where at the age of 10 she met the love of her life, James Douglas (Doug) Gardner.
Margaret is survived by her children Doug (Jennifer), Katherine (Neil) and her grandchildren Nicholas (Maggie), Madeline, Ariel, Esmé and her many nieces and nephews. Margaret was an employee of CIBC and Bell during her younger years, studied music, was a member of the Orpheus Girls Choir in Hamilton and performed in many light operas. She enjoyed painting and was a talented member of the Trillium Tollers in Mississauga.
At 89 years old, she lived a blessed and fulfilled life dedicated to raising her family, pursuing her talents and love for music and art. Over the last 25 years she spent much of her time involved in politics with a particular interest in healthcare, education, climate and many causes related to helping people live a better quality of life. She had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, keeping the family well connected with, and informed on, local and world current events.
She lived her life with purpose and her generosity went well beyond her family, supporting and giving her time to many causes and charities. Margaret was an exemplary role model to her children, grandchildren and those who were fortunate to have known her. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren always supporting them in any way she could. Inside and out, she was a beautiful, kind and caring woman who always treated others with great respect. Margaret handled any challenge in her life with incredible strength and positivity. Her presence will be deeply missed and the memories we have, along with her spirit and love for life, have been imprinted in our hearts forever.
