Margaret Anne (Pike) Holland

September 10, 1938 — May 18, 2022

In her prime, Margaret Anne (nee Pike) Holland (September 10, 1938-May 18, 2022) was a force to be reckoned with. With a quiet confidence that came from growing up an only child in the United Kingdom and then transporting herself to Canada in her early 20’s, where she would marry her adoring Ken, Margaret truly knew how to win friends and influence people. While she did not have a pretentious bone in her body, she did have a regal air, a combination of class and authority that led people to seek her out for advice, assistance, comfort and so much more.  She wasn’t afraid to put you in your place when necessary, but it always came from the heart and was delivered with her usual grace and diplomacy.

Margaret was extremely hard working, juggling both a full time job at Maple Grove United Church and several part time jobs over the years. Retirement meant going down to only one part time job so it’s a wonder that she had the ability to still be a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Predeceased by her husband Ken in 2016, Margaret will be lovingly remembered as an inspiration and the rock of the family by her children Jane Gostovic and Iain Holland (Jennifer), as well as her granddaughters Emma and Tessa Gostovic.

Margaret’s loss will also be felt by her vast array of friends to whom she was a loyal counsellor, a smart, organized go-to person, a thoughtful companion, and the keeper of everyone’s secrets.

Parkinson’s Disease eventually forced Margaret to slow down and while it may have taken control of her body and mind, the memory of the mighty woman she was will be engraved in the hearts of all who knew her.

In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A small celebration of life will be planned in the upcoming weeks. Should anyone wish to make a donation, please consider contributing to Parkinson’s Canada to help others living with this terrible disease.
