Maria Theresa (nee Jankowiak) Allen

November 20, 1945 – April 21, 2023 (age 77)

It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Theresa Allen on Friday April 21st, 2023, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie at the age of 77. She fought a long a brave fight, but finally succumbed to cancer.

She is survived by her three daughters: Alexandra (with Eugenio Steele), Christiana, and Samantha. She will be reunited with her father (Francis Jankowiak) and mother (Iris Jankowiak [nee Savage]) and all other relatives, her dog Hera, and friends who have passed before her.

Maria was born in England and emigrated to Canada when she was a child. After schooling, she worked as a librarian at for libraries in Toronto and Newmarket. Later, she completed an Interior Design certificate from Seneca College.

Once she retired, she enjoyed watching television, visits to Tim Hortons, shopping, sewing, gardening, needlepoint, knitting and crochet. Also, she started to volunteer at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, first in the library and then settling in the Imaging Department. Eventually, Maria became the Team Lead for the volunteers of the Imaging Department.

The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, for their care and support.
