Marie Simunek

Today we celebrate the life of Marie Simunek, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 7, 2022 in her 94th year. Beloved wife to Zdenek for 68 wonderful years. Loving Mother to Eva (husband Glenn) and Michael (wife Tracy). She will be fondly remembered by her Grandchildren Danielle (husband Patrick) and Michelle (husband Benjamin) as well as her great-grandson Beau. Marie enjoyed a wonderful life and was an avid gardener taking pride in the produce and flowers that she would grow each year. She enjoyed figure skating,swimming, playing the piano and watching golf (if Tiger Woods was playing). She loved swimming, whether it was on a beach or in a pool. Right up until the start of COVID, Marie would go to the Allandale Recreation Center and swim twice per week. She passed down her love of figure skating to her children and was their numero uno fan; creating and sewing skating outfits till the wee hours of the morning. She was a perfectionist and creative genius. Marie was also an artist in the kitchen with the meals that she would create, making everything from scratch without the use of a recipe book, she even baked her own bread, very rarely purchasing a loaf from the store. The love and protection she provided her family went above and beyond with all that she did.  Marie was also a fighter and although diagnosed with Cancer in early 2021 she surpassed the life expectancy that the Doctors gave her of well over a year and up to the last hours of her life she fought this awful disease with all her might as she did with every hurdle that life put in front of her. She will be greatly missed by all
