With strength and courage, Marilyn Leah Patterson died peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre with her family by her side on January 30th, 2024 at age 70.
She will be dearly missed by her two children, Erin and Bobby, son-in-law Adam, daughter-in-law Maddie, grandson Liam, sister-in-law Mary (late brother Talfryn), sister Deborah (Dennis), nieces and nephews, Matthew, Kara, Melissa, Mel, Michael, Lina, Patrick, Katie, Shannon, Graeme, and Cortney, and great nieces and nephews, Jack, Joey, Asher, Victoria, Beth, Emma, Max, Zack, Cooper, Everly, Maisie and Isla.
Marilyn was born in St John, New Brunswick to William and Verna Hopkins. She was also loved by her step-mother, Flora. Marilyn spent the majority of her life in Peterborough close to her friends and family and worked as an insurance broker. She married her best friend Larry, and they happily shared 10 years together until his death in 2007. Those closest to her would all agree that those years were her happiest.
Marilyn was known for her roast beef dinners, gardening, handmade gifts, love for animals and her witty and sarcastic humour. She was a straightforward and honest woman who regularly offered kindness to family and strangers alike.
As we grieve our loss, we find comfort in knowing she will be reunited with Larry; no longer in pain and waiting til we meet again.
The celebration of life will be a private ceremony with close family members present. We invite you to make a donation to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation in lieu of flowers.
