Marlene Liebenberg

September 28, 1976 — February 10, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Liebenberg. A truly beautiful soul that will forever be deeply missed.
Marlene is survived by her mother Ina Jonker, stepfather Willie Jonker, brother CF Liebenberg Jr.(Max Liebenberg) father CF Liebenberg Sr.

Marlene was caring, gentle and loving.  She possessed a kindness and a patience like no other.  She lived her life as a quiet hero, never putting herself first and always offering help to anyone that was in need.  She was independent and fearless, always stoic, and never bothered or afraid of anything around her.
Marlene always craved more out of life. She read countless books, wrote poetry and had a thirst for knowledge that led her to enroll in a number of courses in varying fields. She loved trying new things and her hands were rarely still as she had many talents, a photographer, an artist, a writer, a musician, a seamstress, and an all around handy woman to name a few.
Marlene’s greatest passion however was caring for animals, especially the ones that couldn’t care for themselves. She took in many stray, injured, or sick animals and nursed them back to health over the years. Her deep love and understanding of animals led her to open her own dog grooming salon in South Africa. She later brought her skills to Canada where she worked for many years as a dog groomer amongst friends.
Marlene always worked incredibly hard but always laughed even harder.
Her gentle kindness and strength have touched so many lives and will be carried on in our hearts forever.

In accordance with the family’s wishes - Marlene’s ashes will be sent back to her home in South Africa.
A “celebration of life” ceremony will be held in honour of Marlene when the COVID pandemic subsides.
Donations may be made to the
Humane Society in Marlene’s honour.
