Martha Ottilie Bestig

It is with great sadness that we announce that in the early hours of August 28, 2024, Martha Bestig passed away peacefully. Martha had a very happy life with her loving husband, Darshan Singh. They were together for 51 years and he looked after Martha all these years with much love. She always used to say how lucky she was that she met Darshan. 

Martha was born in a small town called Hofkirchen/Donau in Germany; she was one of 6 siblings but she was the only one who came to Canada in 1962.

Martha career was in business administration and it was a very satisfactory working many years for National Life where she met many caring friends such as Teresa Perez who has been her friend for over 47 years. She was a member of a group of 8 friends called the Golden Girls who used to meet a few times a year to share home cooked meals and talked. They all met at National Life the company all worked for at different departments. 

Martha and Darshan have travelled many times to Germany and India, Darshan’s country. She was very loved by Darshan’s extended family where she participated in many family weddings.

Martha was a very intelligent and strong person. Two of Martha’s favourites hobbies were gardening and renovating homes.

The family would like to thank the McCall Centre for all the loving care they provided her on her final days.
