Mary Joanne Boulé

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Joanne Boulé (née Miller), on July 9th, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 81 years old

Born in Barrie and raised in Trenton, Joanne graduated from the St. Joseph School of Nursing, Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston (Class of '64) and University of Western Ontario in nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse - predominantly at the National Defence Medical Centre - when her husband Pierre's military postings frequently returned them back to Ottawa, where they established deep roots. Joanne and Pierre were married for 56 years.

Joanne was the eldest daughter of late Nora and Jack Miller, and sister to the late Jackie (Paul Ireland) of Trenton. She was the beloved mother of Patrick (Robin Gibson), Erinn (Patrick Boyd) and Joseph (Tammy) and a proud and doting grandmother to seven incredible grandchildren: Mikayla, the late Nicholas, Jordan, Kate, Maggie, Benjamin and Sarah. 

Joanne always created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Her razor-sharp wit and dry humour lives on through her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and resilience. Her family and friends will forever remember her as a pillar of strength, a devoted wife and mother, a loving grandmother, a loyal sister, and a cherished friend.

Friends and family are invited to join us for a Funeral Mass which will be held Saturday, 24 August at 11am at Divine Infant Catholic Church, 6658 Bilberry Dr, Orléans. There will be light refreshments in the Parish Hall following the service. A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held in Trenton at a later date, with details forthcoming. Final resting place will be St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Wooler.
