MaryAnne Mason

It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of MaryAnne at age 67. MaryAnne was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Ottawa. Loving wife of Michael Mason Sr. and devoted mother of Derek (Jhen), Michael Jr. and Kevin (Lourdes). Proud grandmother of Lily Anna, Ella Bree, Mackenzee Maryanne, Ava Rose and Levi Javier.

She will be missed by her sisters Veronica Langelier, Barbara Petruk, Antoinette Lacroix, her brothers John (Cathy) Gelowsky, Stephen Gelowsky and Walter (Norma) Gelowsky, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Larry (the late Marilyn) Mason, Ken (Tony) Mason, the late Gerry (Linda) Mason, David (Mary) Mason, Greg (Lorraine) Mason, Heather (the late Bob) Labelle, Ray (Donna) Mason and John (Nathalie) Mason, as well as her many nieces and nephews. MaryAnne is predeceased by her siblings Mike (Jesse) Petruk and Helen (Nick) Nicholas.

MaryAnne is lovingly remembered for her zeal for life and devotion to her family. A proud hockey and baseball mom, she spent many evenings and weekends in the stands or managing the canteen or bingo to raise funds for the Ottawa West Hockey Association.

She adored celebrations, big and small, and opened her home regularly to host festivities of all sorts. From Sunday dinners, card nights and baby showers to her favourite night of the year – Christmas eve dinner - she never missed the chance to gather her loved ones together.

Family and friends are welcome to attend any of the following events on Thursday January 11, 2024, in honour of MaryAnne:

-12:00pm - Mass at Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine
(952 Green Valley Cres.)

-2:00pm - Funeral at the Notre Dame Cemetery
(455 Montreal Rd, Section UK, lot #56).

-4:00pm – Celebration of life at the Mason home.
