Matthew Grech Sr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Bluewater Health in Sarnia. He courageously fought cancer for 1 year, never losing his spirit or sense of humour.
A celebration of Matty’s life will be held at the Lambeth Legion, 7097 Kilbourne Rd., London, ON on Thursday Oct 24 at 1 pm. Family and close friends are welcome to join us.
Matt was born May 1, 1951 in Zabbar Malta, predeceased by loving parents Joe and Jessie Grech. He was very proud of his Maltese heritage. When he was 3 years old his family moved to Canada and he worked 27 years at Ford Motor Company in Talbotville.
Those left to treasure his many memories are his loving wife Sandra (Wilson), cherished children Matthew Jr. (Elena) and his daughter Michelle. He was a loving Nannu and proud of his grandchildren Madison, Liam and Nicholas. Dearly loved brother of Henry (Maria), Tessie (Salv), Paul (Frances), Joey (Valerie) and Godwin (Lesley). He’ll be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, Jeff, Laura, Maria, Liz, Jeanette, Anthony, Paul, Derek, Antoinette, Jennifer, Julie, Jamie-Lee, Cassandra.
Matt is lovingly remembered by his extended family, mother-in-law Cynthia Wilson and her family, Rob, Paul (Irene), Sue (Chuck), Cyndy (Tom), Mark (Kathy), my nieces and nephews, Aaron, Andrew, Owen, Jodi, Jeff, Cyndy-Leigh, Quinn, Karli-Lane and Erynn and all my great nieces and nephews, Stevie, Mia, Max, Jordan, Amelia, Preston, Macy-Jae and Gewel.
Matt had a big heart and loved to help people. His final wish was to donate his eyes to a waiting donor. Matt lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by the people who knew and loved him dearly. The world is a better place from having him here with us for 62 years.
