Maurice Brenden-Brady

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

A proud Canadian and resident of Mississauga, son of Percival J. Brenden-Brady and Madeleine D’Avoine, born, lived his early life and was educated in Bombay (Mumbai), India. Moved to the UK prior to Indian independence in 1947, completing studies in Economics at London University before emigrating to Canada in his early twenties. Survived by Simone, his loving daughter and only child, borne to him by his wife, the late (née) Olivia Francisco, of Brooklyn, USA and Maraval, Trinidad & Tobago.

During his life in the UK, Maurice was an outstanding athlete in track and field for the Polytechnic Harriers track club, and briefly for the London Irish in rugby football, and an avid golfer.

Maurice spent 42 years as a Risk Management specialist in many facets of the financial services industry in Canada, in both the private sector, government and as a private consultant stationed in Montreal, Toronto and Trinidad, before finally retiring in 1996 as an institutional financial services regulator for the Ontario Ministry of Finance in Toronto.

Maurice was a lifetime Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London, UK, and was a supporter and member of the Toronto Humane Society, OSPCA and PETA animal welfare agencies. He was also closely associated with the Caribbean community in Montreal and Toronto, as an early, active participant/leader in what later became the Toronto Caribana annual festival.

Maurice had a great sense of humour and was a great story teller. He was never short of jokes and interesting material from his colourful life, which he related to everyone with great aplomb.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday April 24th for close family and friends. Donations made to the foregoing named organizations in lieu of floral tributes will be welcomed and appreciated.
