Michael Maurice Dozois

January 1, 1960 — February 17, 2025

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Michel Maurice Dozois passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2025, at the Ottawa General Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit with his wife Maria and his son Justin by his bedside. He was 65 years of age at the time of his passing. His wife Maria and family are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Michel was born on January 1, 1960 and is predeceased by his parents, Gerard and Leona.

Michel (Mike), as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him who knew him over the years at church groups, in the workplace and in sports (hockey, card games and golfing) he actively participated in. We ask that you remember him for the way he lived his life, and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Michel is survived and missed by his loving wife Maria Pia (née Plescia) and soulmate of 22 years. He was a devoted Father to their children, Justin Elliott Wood, Chelsea Dozois and Joshua Ennio Wood (deceased). Michel is also survived by brothers, Moe Dozois (Marie Bourassa), Marc Dozois (Hilary), and sisters, Linda Dozois (Doug Leonard), Lise Trottier (Jean-Luc), and many loved nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Michel will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

Although Michel's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. Mike as you continue to worship Jesus up there in heaven, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts here on earth.

A Celebration of Life gathering to honor the life of Michel (Mike) will be held at a later date in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ottawa Innercity Ministries in Mike’s memory
