Michael Galway

Ottawa

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Campbell Galway at the age of 59. Michael was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated with his family as a young child to Ottawa, Canada, the city he loved so much.

While attending Sir Robert Borden High School in Nepean, Michael was an Ontario student of the year. Michael then entered the Engineering program at Carleton University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Michael had a successful career as a professional engineer for the federal government, making major contributions in applied vehicle dynamics, and registered several patents.

Michael was a lover of science, history, music, food, the cultures of the world, and their oddities, and he was a patron of many diverse charities.

Michael leaves his parents, Tom and Isobel Galway, sisters Moira Galway and Pat Galway (Mike Parker), niece Olivia and nephew Dexter.

He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family and his close circle of loyal and supportive friends and neighbours, particularly Robert Martin, Alberto Garcia Vargas, Betty Baylin and John Lau.

In memoriam donations to Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue, Ottawa Youth Services, Carleton University, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Gone too soon.
