Michael Eugene Thomas Joseph Kearns

Michael Kearns passed away peacefully on March 31st, 2025, at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario at the age of 72. He was a loving father, grandfather, partner, sibling and friend.

Predeceased by his parents Ward and Rene Kearns. Survived by his partner Teresa Oag, and his children Becky Vernon (Richard) Brendan Kearns (Liz), and their mother Marilyn and his grandchildren Crosby, Bentley, Lennon , and Brendan and Liz’s soon- to- be- born little one. Teresa’s children Melissa Oag, Jennifer Smith (Curtis), Sarah Ruso, Justin Oag as well as her grandchildren, Sam, Lia and Hank. His siblings Marilyn Edwards (Tom), Kathy Meyer (Paul), Tom Kearns (Chris), and Paul Kearns (Jan).

Mike loved being out in nature. Some of his fondest memories were made exploring the mountains, long drives in the country, taking pictures of wild horses, fishing up at the cottage or riding at the Sunset Ranch with friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially during the many trips to visit his grandchildren. In high school Mike was also the Peel All-Star in running with sweeping wins in the 100, 200 & 400m. His absolute love of music, especially the Beatles, was a well-known fact and he loved to write about the things he was most passionate about.

His vibrant career life saw him in a number of roles within the jewelry and newspaper business. He also owned a beer store in Calgary, and retired after a position as mail carrier at Canada Post. Through it all, Mike gained many lasting friendships along the way. He was known for his quick wit and great sense of humour and could often be heard cracking jokes on the sidelines. You could always count on Mike to show up for the people he loved. He will always be remembered as an all-around great guy who made everyone and anyone he met feel important. It is a testament to his incredible character. There is no one who was not touched by his calm and kind presence.

Mike, you are dearly missed and your memories are being shared amongst those who were lucky to know you. You are deeply loved and cherished, and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life to honour Mike on Saturday May 24th at the Clarkson Community Centre inside the Margaret Marland Room from 6:00-10:00 pm- located at 2475 Truscott Drive, Mississauga, Ontario.
