Michael Edmund Clark Lang

July 8, 1936 — November 4, 2023

Michael Edmund Clark Lang of the Westhill Retirement Residence and AgeCare West Williams, passed away in his 87th year November 4th 2023. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1936, he was the eldest son of Kenneth Jackson Lang and Helen Verna Clark. Michael was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia, working in several branches throughout Manitoba. He and his family moved to Burlington, Ontario in 1967. Michael served in Toronto as Treasurer and Business Administrator of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec, then as Treasurer, Associate Treasurer and Development Officer of the Canadian Baptist Overseas Mission Board, and retired as the Bursar at McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton. In retirement he spent many hours researching his family history and enjoying family gardens in Burlington, Stratford and New Hamburg.

He was a communicant at St. George’s Anglican Church, New Hamburg. Beloved husband and dearest friend of Alyce Adele Helen-Gruenke, and loving father of Karen (Bill) Lacourt of Oakville, Timothy (Carina) of Lion’s Head, Susan of Hamilton, Teresa (Hans) of Walkerton, and James (Joanne) of Burlington. He was proud of his grandchildren: Michael (Anna) and Iain (Alice) Lacourt; Casie (Shawn) Hamacher, Aaron, Molly (Anthony) Wood, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Hernandez and Matthew (Kristen) Hernandez; Elizabeth, Rebecca (Scott), and Timothy Lopes; Evan Lang and Sophie and John Jeffries, and so wished to watch great-grandchildren Abigail and James Lacourt, Jackson and Layla Hamacher, Sebastian Wood, Scarlett, Ezra and Arthur Pope grow.

He was pre-deceased by his grandchildren Michele DiFronzo in 1987 and Keenan Lang in 2019, and his brother Terry in 2013. He is survived by his brothers Keith (Regina) of Delta, BC, and Richard (Reverley) of Winnipeg and sister-in-law Judith of Winnipeg; in-laws Dorothy (Dr. Lawrence) McKinnis of Hastings Nebraska and Bill (Ruth) Dueck of Winnipeg Manitoba, and many nieces, nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held at St. Georges Anglican Church, 3 Byron St., New Hamburg, Ontario. Interment will be at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Wilmot. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. George’s Anglican Church, New Hamburg, in support of the Primates World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) or Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM).
