Having lived a full and happy life, Michael's wish to move to his final home, was realized on August 25, 2016.
A loving and devoted husband to his wife Barbara (nee Elmes), a caring father to his step-daughter Dawn (Jason), a cherished and fun-loving Bumpa to his grandsons Nicholas and Llewellyn, and a special friend to his canine companion Dave, Michael will be greatly missed.
Born on June 5, 1930, he is predeceased by his brothers Ted, Tony, and Jim. He is fondly loved and remembered by his sisters Peg Dempsey (Ronnie) of Scotland, and Lynne Waterman (Rob) of England, and by countless other family members, friends, and neighbours.
A man of simple needs, Michael was grateful for each day of his life. He enjoyed a good book, a good meal, puttering in the garden, camping on Georgian Bay and dangling a fishing line in the rivers of Scotland with his brother-in-law Ronnie.
Perhaps Michael's greatest passion was his love and respect for nature. He shared a special affinity with all animals. If desired, donations in his name, to the David Suzuki Foundation (www.davidsuzuki.org), would be appreciated by the family.
At Michael's request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of a life well lived will be held at a later date. Friends and family will be notified. To offer an online condolence, please visit basic funerals.ca
