Moira Beddall

July 3, 1927 — September 10, 2019

Moira Beddall nee Marshall, born in Dundee Scotland on July 03rd, 1927 passed away at the Ajax/Pickering Hospital on September 10th 2019 with her son and daughter at her side.
She was 92 years old
Moira Marshall and her sister Vera were raised by their mother, Inez Marshall nee Hilton, in Blackpool, England where Moira graduated with a Teaching Degree in physical education.
She met and married a young architect from Dudley, Thomas William (Bill) Beddall in 1950 at the age of twenty three. They immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1954, from post-war England, seeking new opportunities and built their house, designed by Bill, at 2130 Dixie Road, Pickering Ontario.
Moira and Bill had their children Kim in 1956 and Clive 1959 and became Canadian Citizens together in 1968.
Moira’s career as a teacher spanned more than 35 years as a Teacher/ Librarian, sharing her love of books and the written word, with thousands of students at Sir John A MacDonald public school in Bay Ridges.
She went back to University as a mature student while working full time, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto in June 1991.
Moira was a beautiful swimmer, she loved to sew and was very fashion conscious but her life revolved around her family and her husband Bill. They dined together every evening, skied in the winters and sailed in the summers. Bill played in a band and Moira loved to dance. They spent a magical 47 years together until Bill died unexpectedly in 1997 at the age of 70.
Moira spent her winters in the Dominican Republic with daughter Kim, whale watching and dodging Canadian snow and cold. Son Clive and his wife moved in with Moira in 2014, enabling her to stay in the home that she loved until she passed.
Moira’s wish was to be cremated and have her ashes sprinkled, together with Bill’s, on a beautiful Trillium patch behind the house and the dream, they built together in Pickering.
Moira is survived by her immediate family : daughter Kim Beddall, son Clive and his wife Lorna Beddall, grandchildren Kari Beddall, Tyler Beddall and his wife Megan, her great granddaughter Maya Beddall , her nieces Susan and Audrey in England, Wendy and Christine in Italy and last but, not least, her faithful Chihuahua, Little Miss Mia.
