Mona Mitchell

Mona Kathleen Mitchell (nee Newby, Sinclair) entered into rest at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario Tuesday, October 10th, 2023 at the age of 91. She was pre-deceased by her husbands Tom Mitchell and Albert Sinclair. Born in Collingwood, Ontario Mona was the beloved daughter of the late John and Dainteary Newby. Mona was the beloved mother of Dalton (Anne), Paul (Pauline), Debbie (John), step-mother to Dwayne (Joeanne), Dennis (Marlene), Cher (Greg), Karron, Lynn. Cherished grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 12. Dearly loved sister of Audrey (pre-deceased). Jacqueline, Linda and Karen .

Mona was a passionate seamstress and knitter, loved her baking and preserving right up to her final year. She will always be remembered for her pickles and chili sauce.

We cherish the memories of our time together in our hearts. She is dearly missed.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the Doctors and nurses who provided care to Mona during her stay.

As per Mona’s wishes there will be no service and at a later date a living tree memorial will be planted in her honor at the Friendship Garden in Collingwood as well as in Lindsay (location to follow). A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Mona was a 2 time survivor of cancer, therefore donations can be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital in her behalf.

This day, October 10, 2023, God sent his angels to escort a faithful saint, Mona Mitchell, to the beautiful shores of Heaven. The physical and painful struggles will be no more and with loved ones waiting for her on Heavens shore, reunion of friends and family past and acquaintances of new.

Mona has left a legacy for future generations to continue to shine a light because of her life’s example. So in the quiet times of life, stop and light a candle and say a simple prayer, and give thanks for the life we live.

Good bye and thanks for everything and we look forward to meeting you again when we meet on Heavens shores.
