Emblem

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Yates on April 2, 2022 in Cornwall, just 12 days before her 94th birthday after having several health issues in recent months.

Former wife and friend of the late Kenneth Yates. Beloved mother of Linda (Randy MacRury), Sharon (Hughie Hay) and Barry (Diane McKinnon), she is also survived by her grandchildren, Jaimie, Steven, Jennafer and Samantha, her great-grandson Zach and her sister, Bernadette. Also predeceased by her late siblings, Marguerite, Raymond, Larry and Frank.

Lived many years in Verdun, Quebec, before moving to Chateauguay, Quebec in her early sixties and then to Long Sault, Ontario in 2014.

Spent several years working for Northern Electric and when she retired, she opened a school teaching oil painting classes.   She was a very talented artist.

Very crafty – sewed, knitted, crocheted and even “wrote a book” of her memoirs, had copies made to give to each of her children and some friends.

As per her wishes, there will be no service, however her family will hold a celebration of her life at some future date.

She will be sadly missed and never forgotten by those who loved her.

Thank you to the staff at Heartwood LTC
