Neil Pollock

June 23, 1937 — September 13, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Neil Pollock (June 23, 1937-Sept. 13, 2014). He came to Canada from Glasgow as an 18 year old. Neil met his soulmate and wife, Rosemary, in the early 70s at George Brown College in Toronto, where they both worked. It was odd to see one without the other and their personalities balanced each other out perfectly. A few years later their daughter, Alexis, was born. In her, many of Neil’s strong personality traits continue to live on.  He went onto work and retire from OPSEU where, in his words, he was, “leading the workers to paradise”.  His brother and close friend, Graham (and family) and Rosemary’s sister Sasha Wachta (and family) will also miss him dearly. Although Neil had a small family, he thought of close friends as his ‘chosen family’ and the outpouring of support they have shown the past week and a half has been remarkable. Neil loved his family and friends, his dogs, his dram of scotch, reading, sailing and laughing, especially with his ‘almost’ grand kids Lily and Owen. His gregarious personality, dry and witty sense of humour and kind heart are things that we miss today and will continue to miss as the days pass. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring of 2015. If desired, donations in memory of Neil may be made to  your local SPCA or charity of your choice.
