TO MY BELOVED MOTHER
Niranjan Rooderdath 1929-2023
Niranjan passed away peacefully, at the age of 93, on Friday February 24, 2023. Survived by her four children Leela (Mike), Jaggewan, Satya and Champa; grandmother to 14 children: Roxanne, Cheryl, Susan, Nadia, Sandy, Shivani, Usha, Sharada, Shiva, Sudesh, Randy, Rachel, Dwayne and Ric and great grandmother to 6 children. Predeceased by her loving husband Rooderdath of 57 years, and four children Narinedat, Vishnudat, Jaio and Pramela.
My mother was a remarkable and dedicated mom. She lived an extraordinary life, working tirelessly on the farm to give her children the best she possibly could, including putting emphasis on the importance of an education. I can write a book of her sacrifices and hard work ethic which I saw growing up, getting up very early, preparing breakfast and lunch for us, and had us all ready to catch the school bus at 6.00 am as our high school was very far. Then working all day in the farm in the hot sun with my father, just so that they can have a means to provide for us and our education. Even though there were hard times, she would never one day send us to school, without our little spending money, knowing this will make us happy. She is always planning ahead for our physical and educational needs. She encouraged and motivated us to do our best in whatever we did. Her own life was an example of this. She was driven, had mental toughness, and was very resilient. She instilled values in us. Her values were indelibly instilled in me by seeing her live those values. She had a remarkable and impressive memory throughout her life. As I grew older, I started to rely heavily on her for guidance in major decisions in my life. In her later years, I enjoyed countless lengthy conversations with her about her childhood and life before I was born. She was my biggest cheerleader and for this I will sorely miss her. I know I will see her again one day in the Resurrection. Rest in peace my beloved mother.
Satya (Daughter)
Mom, I missed you very much and will always love you. You are the greatest example of motherhood and I will treasure the memories of our times together. You worked hard to raise your children and ensure your children get an education which was a sacrifice. You were sweet, loving, caring, serving, giving and taught us good moral values. I look forward to the time we will all be together. May you have peace.
Champa (Daughter)
