Born October 1, 1925, Edinburgh, Scotland.
She died on Saturday November 13 at the age of 96. Norah lived a long and eventful life. As a toddler she immigrated to Canada, had her schooling in Ottawa and Corner Brook, Newfoundland. She graduated in nursing from the Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1947. She married Jack Berry and had three children: Tom (deceased 2013), Peter (Susan) and Jill (Bernie). Norah lived in many locations as a military wife: Ottawa, Kingston, Shilo Manitoba, Soest Germany, and London, England. She was an active member of the Engineer’s Wives Association, on the executive and enjoying their cross country skiing, bridge, book and gourmet dinner clubs.
She was adept at many sports. After Jack’s tragic death (Waverley explosion, August 1989), Norah became involved in delivering for Meals on Wheels for 30 years. She was also an active granny to Chantal, Megan, Fletcher, Kendra, Dylan, Justine and Jordan. Currently there are five great grandchildren: Alexis, Delyth, Camdyn, Kyson and Talon. She travelled extensively over the years with Jack and with her second husband Alan Joyce (deceased September 2020).
Our loving warm matriarch has been cherished by many family and friends and will be sorely missed. In memoriam donations to Meals on Wheels or charity of your choice appreciated. For Celebration of Life reception information please contact us at norahjb20@gmail.com or leave a message of condolence.
