Olive Judith Dollery (nee Zabrodski)

August 25, 1930 — November 24, 2021

Brighton, Ontario

Olive passed peacefully at 91 years of age on November 24th, 2021 in Brighton, ON.

Olive was one of the most generous people you would ever meet and she truly loved her family unconditionally. She was independent, confident, and always right. She loved to tell stories that were more exciting than what really happened. Her love for cats meant she never met a stray she wouldn’t bring home. She worked for Canada Post for many years before retiring. She loved spending time with her boys and their families, especially spoiling her granddaughters. She will be remembered fondly by all those who knew her for her kindness, wit, sense of humor and of course her stubbornness.

She had a love of reading and never missed a Stephen King or James Patterson novel. She loved working on jigsaw puzzles, crosswords or playing her computer Scrabble game against longtime virtual opponent, Maven. Throughout her life Ollie could be found outside in the garden between her beautiful flowers and veggies, especially her tomatoes. Even after losing a leg, she didn’t let this stop her, she was still independent and loved spending time out in the sun weeding the retirement home gardens. If she wasn’t out in the garden there was most likely a sports game on TV. As an avid Blue Jays fan, she never missed a game.

Ollie was the loving mother of her boys, Gary (Cheryl) and Glenn (Deb). As well as the beloved grandmother to Shannon and Heather. Gone before her are second husband Ted, brothers Michael, Peter, Max and Paul and sisters Anne and Marie. Left to mourn are her brothers Nick (Shirley), Johnny, first husband Gene and numerous nieces and nephews.

We thank all of the staff at Golden Pond Retirement Residence for their care and support over the past 5 years while she lived there.

Olive has been cremated and will be buried at Prospect Cemetery in the spring.

We thank you all for your love and support during this difficult time. We ask that you please leave a message with your favourite memory of Ollie.
