Olive (Vandy) Francis Vandendriessche McAllister

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Olive (Vandy) Francis Vandendriessche McAllister, age 99, who peacefully left us on February 26, 2025, after a long journey with Alzheimer's disease. Until the very end, Vandy continued to light up the room with her beautiful, warm smile and infectious laugh, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to know her.

A strong, resilient, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Vandy's life was marked by her unwavering determination and the ability to find joy in even the smallest moments. She faced many challenges and sorrows but never let them define her. Throughout her life, she was a hardworking role model, showing her family the power of perseverance, love, and kindness.

Vandy was truly the life of every gathering, always the one to live life to the fullest and embrace each moment. She never shied away from new experiences and stayed active and engaged with those around her. Even as Alzheimer's gradually took away her autonomy, her spirit remained strong.

Vandy will be deeply missed by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Jim McAllister. Her loving brother Ron (Sue). She leaves behind, her daughters, Susan (Cliff), Jane (Glen), and Gail (Michael) and sons David (Brenda) and Scott (Rose) ; as well as her adoring grandchildren, Richard (Sarah), Steven, Tyler (Kendall), Jennifer, Alissa (Dylan), Kevin (Catherine), and Kelsey (Michael). Vandy was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Abigail, Hailey, Robin, Summer, Emily, Ethan, Parker, and Preston.

Vandy was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Laura.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses and PSWs at Extendicare Laurier Manor for their consistent care and compassion throughout the years. We are truly grateful for all you have done.

Vandy's love, laughter, and light will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by love and memories that will last a lifetime. Rest in peace, Vandy. We love you.
