It is with sadness in our hearts, but also with peace & comfort in knowing that he is in a much better place, that we announce the passing of Oscar Roberto Castaneda Benavente in his 73rd year of life. He was known to many as our “Papito”.
He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Pastor Sean Howard and Dr. David Sherbino at 11:30 pm on Monday, June 1, 2015.
He is pre-deceased by his parents (Oscar & Martha Castaneda) and is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Myrna Castaneda , his 3 children: Claudia Castañeda (Russell Phillips), Luis Castaneda (Vera Pereira), Mer Ci / Mari-rosa Castaneda (Juan Paulo Boniowski) and his 10 grandchildren: Matt Castaneda, Robert Sponagle, Emilie Mé�ria Castaneda, Nathan Castaneda, Lisette Sponagle, Juliana Orozco, Natalia Orozco, Thalia Castaneda , Juan Paulo Boniowski Jr. and Daniela Castaneda.
Loving brother to an older sister Hanita Ordonez (the late Oscar Rolando Ordonez) and a younger sister Any Castañeda de Molina (Raul Molina).
Beloved brother-in-law to Dr. Roberto Sanchez (Rosario Villela de Sanchez) and Dr. Rodolfo Sanchez Mancilla (Dra. Olga Marina Diaz de Sanchez)
Predeceased by brother-in-law Fernando Sanchez.
He also leaves behind an estranged brother Luis Castaneda (Barbara Tate).
He was also a beloved uncle and great uncle to many, too many to name individually.
Thank you all for your prayers & support throughout the last 18 days of his life. It was comforting to know that we were surrounded by awesome prayer warriors at all times.
A special “Thank you!” goes out to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Trillium Hospital (Mississauga). You were our angels in the flesh. Ralph, thank you for singing with us.
