It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Oscar “Larry” Côté, who departed this world on September 16, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, patience, scientific accomplishments, and a fair number of divots. Larry, or “Daddio” as we knew him, was a devoted family man who, with a sunny disposition, was always ready to help friends and family.

Born and raised in Sudbury, ON, Larry worked for 35 years in the federal public service which brought him to Ottawa, ON where he married and raised his family. Upon retirement, and between golf games, he worked as a handyman helping seniors with small repairs and renovations to their homes, and in the process, amassed enough tools to open his own hardware store.

Predeceased by his wives Joan Côté (nee Leclair) and Barbara Côté (nee Dallaire), Larry is survived by his children Steve (Stacey-Anne), Alana, & Jill (Dave) who are now keepers of his golf clubs, relics from a bygone era. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Oscar (Kate) & Maxwell, Taylor & Lindsay, and Camille & Olivier, as well as several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Larry leaves behind his cherished golf buddies, who will undoubtedly toast him on the fairways he loved, sharing stories of his epic drives and an even more epic hole-in-one. While he may have departed this world, we know he’s already found the perfect golf course in the great beyond, where the sun is always shining, and the greens are perfectly manicured.
