It is with greatest sadness, the family of Owen announce his passing at the Meadows of Dorchester, with family by his side. Owen was born in Welland, resigning from the Welland Fire Service, to enlist in the CDN Army at the outbreak of the Korean War. Returning from overseas, Owen began a career in trucking and married June Chernish. The couple has two sons, Lawrence and Dennis (Sheryl) together with their extended families. Owen’s greatest dedication was to his family, which he often put before his own needs. He frequently spoke of the importance of family values, a quality he attributed to military training combined with the influences of the Tufts and Chernish families. Owen never had a harsh word, doing his best to minimize conflict. Supportive and generous best describe his character. Owen was industrious, engaging in challenging activities with a passion for building; houses, cottages etc. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Owen’s life will be held, at 11 am December 10, 2022, at Golden Harvest Church 3130 Point Abino Rd N Stevensville all are welcome, fellowship will follow the service.
