Pamela (née Hudson) Ackerman

August 10, 1931 — November 6, 2019

After a lengthy battle with cancer Pamela passed away peacefully at Robertson House, seniors residence in Nepean, Ontario at the age of 88. Her final hours were spent surrounded by family members and the caring nursing staff at Robertson.

Pamela was born in Snodland, Kent, England, often referred to as the garden state. It is here that her love of the beauty of nature was first born. She was raised by her loving parents, Edith Hudson (née Brown) and William Herbert Hudson, alongside siblings David and Pauline.

In her younger years Pamela worked as a telephonist at the General Post Office where she eventually met her future husband, Paul Michael Ackerman, an engineer. They were soon married at the Jerusalem Church in Snodland U.K. on April 2, 1955 where Pamela had taught Sunday School.

Their first son, Simon James, was born the following year. The young family emigrated to Canada in 1957 where Pams husband had secured a good position with Bell Telephone. First residing in Kingston, Ontario the family later relocated to Lake of Two Mountains, Quebec in 1960 where their daughter, Jane Jo-Anne was born in October. In 1965 the family again moved to Ottawa, Ontario where a second son, John Paul was born in 1966.

In 1971 Pamela's husband Michael moved the family to Lima, Peru where he worked on a foreign aid project with the Peruvian government This proved to be a wonderful educational and cultural experience for Pamela and her family.

Pamela enjoyed her sweets. A stash of cookies and chocolates could always be found hidden somewhere in the house. Sadly, like many peers of her era, she also enjoyed the cigarettes which eventually affected her health.

Pamela is survived by several grandchildren listed in birth order. Megan Erica, Erin Jane, Larissa Dawn, Emily Lauren, Jasmine Elizabeth, Samuel Jay, Ava Grace. Adopted grandchildren include Widya Octaviani, Febri Ramadan, and Jessyca Wanlim.
