Panagiotis (Peter) Stavrakos

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Panagiotis (Peter) Stavrakos in the early morning of May 18, 2024 at 92 years young.

He will forever be loved, missed and remembered by his wife of 63 years Vasso, his children Louis (Leslie) and Georgina, his grandchildren Alyssa, Arianna (Braden), Daniel and Peter, great granddaughter Piper, siblings Christos (Anna), Evanthia (Nick), Katerina and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Peter was born and raised in Katsaros (Sparti) Greece.  Due to the early death of his father, he became the man of the house at age 11 and began to work tirelessly to help support his younger siblings. He was not only their brother, but father figure and hero.

He emigrated to Canada in 1957, and with his wife, through decades of hard work in the restaurant industry, sacrifice and dedication built a beautiful life in Canada and raised a loving family.  Peter was proud of his Hellenic heritage and all the culture and traditions passed down to the younger generations. He also loved his adopted country of Canada and the many opportunities it provided for him and his loved ones.

He was a devoted family man and immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments.  He was a man of simple interests: good food, good company, sports and weekly lottery tickets. He was kind and generous, with a quirky sense of humour who told silly jokes and had a twinkle in his eye.

Peter will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. His memory will forever be in our hearts and may his soul rest in eternal peace.
