Patricia Warren

September 11, 1927 — April 12, 2018

Mrs. Patricia Warren, nee Andow, of Weston-super-Mare, England. Widow of Alistair Anthony Pitcairn Warren, of Dublin, Ireland.
Patricia grew up on Moorland Rd. in Weston-super-Mare, England. Patricia and Alistair (Tony) met at the Wintergarden in Weston while he was stationed just down the road at RAF Locking. They married and gave birth to their son, Mark Robert Warren, in England, then moved to Canada in 1958; they lived in Montreal (Laval) until the mid-seventies.
During this time, Patricia was very involved in several theatre companies in acting, singing and directing roles. While there, she won an award from CFCF TV for directing a production run by the top non-professional theatre company in Montreal. She acted, sang and directed her way through a long list of productions including Kismet and My Fair Lady. She also attended, in more recent years, several productions as a member of the audience. After attending one small local theatre production in the Ottawa area (name intentionally omitted), she wrote a comment card stating that the female lead had a screechy voice and the male lead was overacting. She left the card for them to collect, not concerned that amateur theatre groups are populated by volunteers and would-be stars who do endless rehearsals in the hope of getting lavish praise from friends and neighbours.
While still living in the Montreal area, Tony decided it would be a good idea for Patricia to learn to drive. At the end of her first-and last-lesson, she turned the steering wheel the wrong way and parked the car in a ditch. We always suspected this was a statement of her lack of interest in driving a car rather than any lack of skill.
Patricia was convinced that restaurants were incapable of making a cup of tea properly. At home, she would put two tea bags into each cup - so any restaurant offering seemed bland and tasteless to her.
She loved chocolate and scallops (in that order), and would usually ask about the chocolate before saying hello when she had visitors at St. Patrick’s nursing home in Ottawa.
Patricia is survived by her sister Valerie Hughes of Bristol, UK, her son Mark (Meg) Warren, her grandchildren Sandy (Daryl) Jorgenson, Ashley (Eric) Coates, and Jenessa (Ian) Warren-Bitton, and by her great-grandchildren Hattie, Margot, Ara and Alistair.
Having taken her final curtain call, Patricia has left the building. We love you and miss you.
