Paul Chen

April 2, 1942 — November 1, 2018

CHEN, Paul Christopher
After a brain stem stroke in early August of this year, Paul Chen of Toronto, ON passed on at 12:15am on November 1 at the age of 76. Paul will be sadly missed by his wife Anita of 45 years, daughter Eunice and son-in-law Vadim as well as his brothers Tony and Charlie and his only sister Maggie. He is predeceased by his father Part Yuen Chen, his mother Shih Huang and his brother, Francis.
Paul was born in Jamshedpur, India on April 2, 1942 and the second of five children. Seeking a better life for him and his family, Paul was the pioneer to come to Canada in 1965, just after his 23rd birthday. He first landed in Montreal, Quebec and completed a Business Administration degree at McGill. After he moved to Toronto, he went to York and completed a Commerce Degree. He married Anita on August 25, 1973 in a small intimate ceremony with family and close friends. Paul was an architect both in India and in Canada. He last worked for the Ontario Provincial Government until his retirement in 1994. Paul’s most important treasure was his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father and a kind-hearted father-in-law. Though intensely private, those who knew him often described him as gentle, sweet, soft-spoken, kind and generous.
A celebration of life will be held on November 18, 2018 at 80 Harrison Garden Blvd, Multi-Purpose Room at 11:00am. As red and burgundy are colours that made Paul happy, everyone is welcome to wear these colours in memory of him.
In memory of Paul and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada and Diabetes Canada
